About the role
We're looking for a Senior Release Engineer to own the end-to-end release lifecycle across our product portfolio. You'll be the connective tissue between engineering, QA, and operations—planning releases, hardening our CI/CD pipelines, enforcing quality gates, and making sure every deployment is predictable, traceable, and low-risk.
Responsibilities
- Own release planning and coordination across multiple teams and services—defining release schedules, cut-off dates, freeze windows, and go/no-go criteria.
- Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions, including build, test, artifact, and deployment stages.
- Manage branching, versioning, and release strategies (e.g., trunk-based, release branches, semantic versioning) across PHP, .NET, and React codebases.
- Define and enforce quality gates, integrating Selenium and Playwright automated test suites into pipelines so failures block promotion.
- Care for deployments across environments (dev, staging, production) and own rollback and recovery procedures when releases go sideways.
- Drive release readiness reviews—tracking open work items in Azure DevOps Boards, surfacing risks, and ensuring sign-offs are in place.
- Maintain clear release notes, change logs, and a complete audit trail for compliance and post-mortem purposes.
- Partner with development, QA, security, and infrastructure teams to remove bottlenecks and continuously improve cycle time and deployment frequency.
- Establish and report on release metrics (deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR) and use them to drive process improvements.
- Champion release automation and a culture of repeatable, self-service deployments.
Requirements
- 5+ years in release management, DevOps, or build/release engineering, with at least 2+ in a senior or lead capacity.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, Boards, Artifacts) and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
- Strong understanding of branching and versioning strategies and how to apply them across multiple languages and runtimes.
- Experience integrating automated testing—Selenium and Playwright—into release pipelines as enforced quality gates.
- Solid grasp of deployment patterns (blue/green, canary, rolling) and rollback strategies.
- Excellent cross-functional communication—comfortable running go/no-go calls and coordinating under pressure during a release or incident.
Qualifications
- Target Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 + Bonus
- DOT Requirements: If applicable, meet all DOT qualification requirements and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Benefits
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

- 401(k) with company match
- Paid vacation, sick, personal and parental leave time
- Paid Volunteer Time
- Employee Recognition Program
- Employee Assistance Program
- Access to on-demand training courses to advance further in your career
Skills
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Azure/AWS cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep).
- Exposure to artifact/package management (NuGet, npm, Composer).
- Experience in a regulated or compliance-driven environment (SOC 2, ISO, etc.).
