Senior Regional Affairs SME
About the role
SABG is hiring a full-time Senior Regional Affairs Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support USSTRATCOM operational planning, training, exercise, and assessment activities. This position requires extensive interagency and/or Combatant Command (CCMD) desk officer international affairs experience supporting regional and strategic issues.
Responsibilities
- Support operational and planning activities requiring regional expertise, international affairs coordination, and strategic analysis in support of mission requirements and operational objectives.
- Support European affairs or Indo-Pacific affairs.
- Coordinate with Government personnel, operational planners, regional affairs personnel, interagency stakeholders, and operational support teams in support of mission and planning activities.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Analyze operational requirements, support Joint exercise planning activities, and coordinate with multiple organizations in support of training objectives and operational requirements.
- Apply analytical and operational reasoning techniques in support of exercise planning and operational coordination activities.
- Write reports, briefing materials, and operational support documentation in support of exercise planning and execution activities.
- Apply Microsoft Office Suite and standard operational planning and collaboration tools.
- Read, analyze, and interpret operational guidance, exercise planning documents, operational orders, and Joint doctrine publications.
- Lift up to 50 lbs periodically.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of interagency and/or Combatant Command (CCMD) desk officer international affairs experience.
- Minimum 3 years of overseas experience required.
- Minimum 6 years of experience working on European affairs or minimum 6 years of experience working on Indo-Pacific affairs.
- Master’s degree or higher required.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in International Affairs, Economics, or equivalent field required.
- Experience supporting operational planning, coordination, or assessment activities involving regional and international affairs issues.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of international affairs and regional issues.
- Knowledge of interagency and Combatant Command operational environments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite and standard operational planning and collaboration tools.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret operational guidance, exercise planning documents, operational orders, and Joint doctrine publications.
- Ability to write reports, briefing materials, and operational support documentation in support of exercise planning and execution activities.

Benefits
Final Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance required. Must comply with all USSTRATCOM and Department of Defense security requirements. Must be able to work within classified operational environments and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).

Physical Demands
- Sit, talk, and hear.
- Write and type on computers for intelligence analysis and product preparation.
- Walk and travel to various facilities for meetings and coordination.

Work Environment
Secure government facilities supporting USSTRATCOM missions, exercises, and training activities. Position may require support during exercise execution periods and operational planning events.
