What You’ll Do
- Update the department's database, Land Book, and tax maps.
- Calculate tax levies for Public Service Corporations.
- Manage tax relief programs and assist with landlord licensing.
- Provide information to landlords, property owners, and the public regarding assessments, tax matters, and licensing issues.
- Evaluate and manage the city's real property records.
- Research various property documents, update real estate records, tax maps, and databases to ensure they are accurate and current.
- Process applications, conduct property inspections, and calculate exemptions for rehabilitation properties.
- Manage building and occupancy permits, ensuring they meet required regulations.
- Support inquiries related to licensing, property, and taxes, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements.
- Create and maintain instructional documentation for team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting, tax assessments, or a related field.
- One (1) year of experience performing real property tax, or equivalent education and/or experience.
Special Requirements
- Must have a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license.
- International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Level I or II certification.
