Senior Real Estate Accountant

About the Role

EisnerAmper’s Real Estate group is seeking a real estate accounting professional with expertise using Real Estate platforms such as Yardi, AppFolio, and Intacct. This individual will service real estate clients and manage multi-entity portfolios of properties, both commercial and/or residential.

The EisnerAmper Outsourcing group brings specialized accounting knowledge directly to a wide range of clients, becoming part of their business. The team provides outsourced accounting and Controller services for clients including subsidiaries and joint ventures of Fortune 100 companies, public companies, professionally funded businesses, and fund management companies. Our diverse client base spans life science, technology, financial services, and other industries. You will work with a team of accountants and manage relationships with clients, their auditors, internal auditors, and other professionals. Clients are located throughout the U.S. and serviced from our offices and virtual environments.

Responsibilities

• Make appropriate journal entries to record mortgage, payroll, utilities, management fees, property insurance, property taxes, and other cash transactions
• Perform bank reconciliations (operating, security deposit, escrow accounts)
• Perform monthly financial review, accrual accounting, and GL reclasses
• Perform reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts
• Perform in-depth review of the income statement
• Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis
• Perform, process, and calculate management fees and distributions
• Prepare monthly financial statement package for ownership to include balance sheet, profit & loss statement, statement of cash flows (if applicable), and bank reconciliations
• Prepare quarterly financial reporting to fulfill lender compliance requirements
• Act as liaison to external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data and information as requested, and answering questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner
• Submit wires, ACHs, and internal bank transfers
• Develop and upload budgets
• Maintain job costing schedules and prepare construction draw packages
• Maintain CAM and operation escalation schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 3+ years’ experience in property accounting managing multiple properties and/or entities, 3+ years of audit experience focusing on real estate clients, or a combination of both

Skills

• Experience with Yardi (preferred)
• Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field (preferred)
• Experience working with task management and workpaper systems (Blackline, Floqast) (preferred)
• Experience working with AppFolio and/or Avid Exchange (preferred)
