Senior Real Estate Accountant

About the Role

EisnerAmper’s Real Estate group is seeking a real estate accounting professional with expertise using Real Estate platforms such as Yardi, AppFolio, and Intacct. This individual will service real estate clients and manage multi-entity portfolios of properties, both commercial and/or residential.

Responsibilities

• Make appropriate journal entries to record mortgage, payroll, utilities, management fees, property insurance, property taxes, and other cash transactions
• Perform bank reconciliations (operating, security deposit, escrow accounts)
• Perform monthly financial review, accrual accounting, and GL reclasses
• Perform reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts
• Perform in-depth review of the income statement
• Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis
• Perform, process, and calculate management fees and distributions
• Prepare monthly financial statement package for ownership, including balance sheet, profit & loss statement, statement of cash flows (if applicable), and bank reconciliations
• Prepare quarterly financial reporting to fulfill lender compliance requirements
• Act as liaison to external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data, and answering questions to complete the audit in a timely manner
• Submit wires, ACHs, and internal bank transfers
• Develop and upload budgets
• Maintain job costing schedules and prepare construction draw packages
• Maintain CAM and operation escalation schedules

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 3+ years’ experience in property accounting managing multiple properties and/or entities, 3+ years of audit experience focusing on real estate clients, or a combination of both

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Yardi
• Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Experience working with task management and workpaper systems (Blackline, Floqast)
• Experience working with AppFolio and/or Avid Exchange
