About the role

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Rail Systems / Senior Catenary Engineer for employment within the New England region. Here you will have the opportunity to work side by side with career rail professionals throughout the US, delivering projects for transit clients with a focus on electrification and overhead catenary systems or OCS.

Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of our WORLD CLASS RAIL DESIGN group
  • Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams and technical specifications
  • Perform quality control reviews and design checks of railroad projects
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state & local regulations
  • Serves as a project manager on mid-large size projects
  • Coordinates team and provides technical expertise for mid-large size projects
  • Develops overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams and technical specifications
  • Leads technical client relationships related to design, construction and phasing of the work
  • Covers multiple projects simultaneously
  • Coordinates with multiple departments related to a projects scope of work
  • Mentors staff to develop a team to support work throughout New England and beyond
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Develops and maintains strong client relationships with clients

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years' experience in railway systems (Overhead Catenary Systems/Traction Power)
  • 6 years of related experience in railway (overhead catenary systems, traction power, track)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenRoads or OpenRail
  • Experience working with Connecticut Department of Transportation, Metro-North Railroad, Amtrak, MBTA, or other passenger/commuter railroad agencies
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • The range for this position is $200000 to $215000 per year
