Responsibilities
- Design Rail infrastructure including track and alignment design
- Prepare calculations, technical documentation, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Engage as part of large multidisciplinary teams and review design documents for consistency and coordination
- Cook up stakeholder agreements. Stakeholders may include railroads, municipalities, or other relevant entities
- Engage in verbal and written communications with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors
- Build and harbor good working relationships with our business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients
- Train team members in technical software and collaboration tools, design coordination workflows
- Aid in the preparation of proposals
- Carry out design work independently and offer guidance to junior staff
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical degree from an accredited University
- 4+ years progressive design experience in rail trackwork and/or roadway design preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) or able to obtain within 12 months
- Proficiency in using Bentley (Bentley Rail Track, OpenRail, OpenRoads) Software Design Packages
- Experience in rail alignment and trackwork design for Class I Railways is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail
- Proactive self-starter who’s also flexible and able to adapt and learn
- Confident and positive attitude
- Desire and flexibility to travel across the state a plus
- Strong written and communication skills
Qualifications
- Based on project needs, random drug testing may be required
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for this position
