Senior Radio Frequency Engineer - Secret clearance (Level 3)

About the role

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to join the Space Radio Frequency (RF) Talent Center (RFTC) team in Littleton, CO. This role supports challenging programs including Space Vehicles, Hypersonics, Human Space Flight and Interplanetary Missions, Missile Defense, and more.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple phases of RF product lifecycle including design, development, test, and deployment
• Engage with other leaders and subject matter experts to participate in design reviews and provide feedback/input on RF systems and hardware designs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful development and deployment of RF systems and hardware
• Design, test, and troubleshoot RF hardware systems, including prototype and deliverable hardware
• Architect and design Radio Frequency systems and circuitry
• Design and develop RF circuitry used in high frequency and microwave applications, including receivers, transmitters, antennas, and frequency synthesizers
• Perform hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and test
• Prepare test methods and specifications; analyze and test RF hardware to verify performance characteristics
• Provide inputs to Product Development for formal documentation and support manufacturing during the deliverable assembly and test phase
• Develop RF System/Subsystem Architectures consisting of: antennas, transmitters, receivers, low noise amplifiers, high power amplifiers, RF conversion elements and transmission line equipment
• Perform link analysis and optimization, including effects of propagation medium and possible interference sources
• Develop and allocate RF system and subsystem functional and performance requirements
• Identify and track RF technical performance measurements (TPMs)
• Perform RF system/subsystem/component trade studies and CAIV analysis
• Support Life Cycle Costs, reliability, availability, and maintainability analysis

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with RF hardware systems
• Experience with system-level RF performance analysis (e.g. RF communications systems, antenna systems)
• Experience in analysis of active and passive RF hardware, performing cascaded analyses, link and gain/loss budgets, and/or using simulation tools to evaluate hardware designs
• Active secret clearance; must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance
• US citizenship required

• Ability to engage with leaders, subject matter experts, and individual contributors to develop successful RF communication systems and hardware designs

• RF performance simulation (ADS, AWR, SystemVue, or equivalent) and Full-Wave simulation experience (CST, HFSS, or equivalent)
• RF Signal Processing experience
• Beam formation experience
• Antenna Multipaction / Corona experience
• Matlab and/or Python Scripting and analysis
• Familiarity with RF test software and tools
• RF prototyping experience
• Fundamental understanding of antenna theory and design
• Understands the effects of dynamic antenna gain and phase changes on GPS receiver performance
• RF design experience including knowledge of power amplifiers, microwave integrated circuit design and RF measurement techniques
• Experience with RF parts selection and evaluation
• Demonstrated understanding of RF test equipment (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generator, etc.)
• Ability to design and plan for designs to experience flight environments (vibration, temperature, multipaction, corona)
• Vendor interface experience, including evaluating vendor solutions
• Vendor spec writing and procurement experience

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $204,900.00
