Responsibilities

  • Treatment Unit Supervision: Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the assigned treatment unit to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Train new staff on treatment machines and serve as mentors during the onboarding process.
  • Ensure immobilization devices and equipment are ready for use and disseminate policies, procedures, and workflow updates.
  • Organize and coordinate the treatment unit schedule, communicate with patients about scheduling preferences, and collaborate with Lead Therapists to manage appointments.
  • Implement downtime response procedures, keep patients informed, and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Facilitate open communication between staff therapists and help mediate any concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Radiation Therapist, Assistant Chief Radiation Therapist, and Lead Therapists to support daily clinical activities.
  • Maintain an optimistic and composed attitude, contributing to a positive environment.
  • Ensure accurate and precise treatment delivery and data capture.
  • Review set-up instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, and treatment plans.
  • Explain treatment process to patients and provide technical guidance to staff.
  • Monitor staff performance and identify clinical environmental needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a JCERT accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent.
  • BS Degree in Radiation Therapy or a related health science field, preferred.
  • Certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiation therapy.
  • Licensed by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support/ CPR.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a radiation therapist with comprehensive clinical knowledge.
  • Simulation Experience, Preferred.
  • Previous experience in proton radiation therapy, preferred.
