About the role
The Senior Quotations Specialist plays a crucial role in securing pricing positions for bids, managing relationships with both customers and vendors, and providing comprehensive product knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Quote moderate to high-profile/complex projects requiring a high level of product knowledge
- Review bid packages and formulate project quotations
- Format customer requests into a standardized spreadsheet for bid review
- Break down bid packages and issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) to vendors
- Receive pricing and compile a bid tabulation for review
- Prepare and submit final proposals with all required documentation
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and offer substitute products as necessary
- Participate in product meetings, seminars, and training sessions to enhance product knowledge
- Discuss vendor strategies and margin levels with the team
- Gather and track feedback to adjust pricing/markup for future bids
- Establish and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers
- Utilize company digital tools to sell, promote, or demonstrate product knowledge to new and existing customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in customer service, project management, or a related field
- Experience with electrical distribution, lighting, and controls, or a related industry preferred
- High School or GED - Required
- Knowledge of intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Excel/Outlook/Word, PDF editor (Blue Beam or Adobe), quote tool, and design software
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines, organize information, and negotiate effectively
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to assist in project design without manufacturing assistance, identify, read, and review project drawings, and collaborate at all levels
- An entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivation, enthusiasm for business, and willingness to mentor and coach on product knowledge, processes, and relationships
