Job Description

Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Manager, Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) to lead the quality and mission assurance functions at the Space Electronics business unit facility in Mason, Ohio.

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership, direction, and support across Quality Engineering, Quality Control and Receiving/Inspection.
  • Build and sustain a culture of safety, personal accountability, disciplined workmanship, and continuous improvement across the business.
  • Execute the site Q&MA strategy in alignment with business objectives, customer commitments, program milestones, and applicable regulatory and government requirements.
  • Guide teams to resolve technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution.
  • Promote a strong culture of quality focused on the engagement of every employee, with adherence to personal stamp warranty, workmanship fundamentals, and attention to detail in the prevention of defects.
  • Collaborate with site leadership peers within program management and other functional process teams. Collaborate with Q&MA functional peers at other Rocketdyne sites.
  • Develop and implement team & site-wide tactical quality improvement initiatives promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures, customer requirements and government standards.
  • Champion, lead, and support the execution of flow-down strategic initiatives for the Space Electronics business unit.
  • Measure, monitor, and take action to ensure quality-focused key performance indicator targets are achieved or exceeded.
  • Report to senior leadership on business performance including action plans to improve business execution and status of strategic initiatives.
  • Lead site efforts to maintain certification and compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other applicable customer, contractual, regulatory, and government requirements.
  • Chair the site Corrective Action Board to oversee rigorous root cause analysis, application of lean/six sigma methods and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure product quality technology is an integral part of engineering design and manufacturing processes.
  • Execute annual departmental budget and staffing plans.
  • Identify needed capital investment to support business needs (including quality process capacity, capabilities, & technologies).
  • Apply recognized problem-solving and continuous-improvement methods, such as 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, cause-and-effect analysis, standard work, and value-stream mapping, as appropriate.
  • Ensure product quality technology is an integral part of engineering design and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Typically has broad experience across multiple related professional disciplines within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization’s business practices.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior experience or business knowledge, general management capability, and leadership experience managing a quality or mission assurance function.
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • 3 or more years of experience directly managing a Quality Engineering, Mission Assurance, Product Assurance, or comparable quality organization.
  • 3 or more years managing site certification with AS9100, ISO 9001 Quality Engineering or Management experience in Aerospace and Defense electronics manufacturing, or closely related industry.
  • Direct experience with assembly, test, and inspection processes commonly used to produce aerospace components and sub-assemblies.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
  • Experience identifying nonconformance and applying prevention utilizing industry-recognized Root Cause Corrective Analysis tools such, DMAIC, FMEA, 8D, Cause Networks and applying Lean techniques such as Manufacturing Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping.
