Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will report to the Quality Services Manager in the Quality Assurance organization and will independently perform complex professional assignments requiring the application of specialized and/or advanced quality assurance principles. The selected candidate may participate on or lead a team on special studies/activities pertaining to quality assurance aspects of the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP).

This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Part-Time Telework: This is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full-time presence in the Richland office, then may transition to part-time telework. The telework designation may change at the discretion of the company or project.

Responsibilities

• Leads and/or participates on cross-functional teams for complex business topics/issues (e.g., quality management system, laboratory quality program, suspect/counterfeit items program, causal analysis).
• Monitors and evaluates project personnel execution/implementation of the project quality program.
• Supports the effective implementation of applicable project quality requirements.
• Assesses and monitors project engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning, and other activities related to the quality program/plan.
• Reviews and monitors nonconforming conditions and associated corrective actions to ensure quality program effectiveness.
• Reviews and reports on project quality-related procedures and manuals for conformance to project quality program/plan requirements.
• Develops quality procedures for review, approval, and issuance in accordance with approved processes.
• Develops revisions/amendments to project quality program/plans.
• Reviews and reports on new and revised regulatory requirements and their impact on the established quality program.
• Analyzes issues and identifies actions and recommended solutions to mitigate performance risk.
• Maintains contact with designated client quality personnel to provide status, manage relationships, and execute applicable actions.
• Provides direction and assigns work to quality specialists and others who assist on specific assignments. Reviews and checks work.
• Responds to project personnel (engineering, construction, procurement, and others) who request guidance on implementation of quality requirements. Engages with functions to ensure quality requirements are built into processes.

Requirements

• Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
• Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.

Qualifications

Grade 25: Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Grade 26: Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Skills

• Working knowledge of a recognized nuclear quality assurance standard (e.g., NQA-1, 10CFR50 App. B), and its application to construction, engineering, acquisition services, supplier quality, materials management, operations, commissioning, training, environmental safety & health, and subcontractor processes.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (DOE Order 414.1, 10 CFR 830) that impact the QA program.
• Knowledge of the application of corrective actions for conditions adverse to quality, and the application of nonconformance reports for nonconforming or deficient items.
• Knowledge of and experience applying software quality program standards, e.g., ASME NQA-1, Sub-part 2.7.
• Knowledge of and experience with laboratory quality program standards, e.g., ASTM C1009-13a, and their application to in-house laboratory activities.
• Knowledge of suspect/counterfeit items program requirements and effective implementation.

Pay

$91,000 - $160,200 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant).
