Senior Purchasing Agent
About the role
The purpose of the position is to acquire services, supplies, and goods at a competitive price in a time-efficient manner. This role is responsible for submitting invitations to bid; reviewing, analyzing, and purchasing supplies, services, goods, and equipment; evaluating methods of acquisition; and preparing purchase orders and related documentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepares invitations to bid and requests for proposals for quotations from vendors for products and services; submits to vendors as appropriate.
- Researches market sources and vendors to locate and ensure the most cost-effective and competitive pricing for the purchase of products and services.
- Negotiates pricing with vendors as necessary.
- Consults with proposed/new vendors to discuss company needs, services, products, and company approval procedures.
- Provides direction to less-experienced Purchasing employees.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ purchasing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and systems.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of construction procurement.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP; COINs experience preferred.
