Senior Purchasing Agent

About the role

The purpose of the position is to acquire services, supplies, and goods at a competitive price in a time-efficient manner. This role is responsible for submitting invitations to bid; reviewing, analyzing, and purchasing supplies, services, goods, and equipment; evaluating methods of acquisition; and preparing purchase orders and related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepares invitations to bid and requests for proposals for quotations from vendors for products and services; submits to vendors as appropriate.
• Researches market sources and vendors to locate and ensure the most cost-effective and competitive pricing for the purchase of products and services.
• Negotiates pricing with vendors as necessary.
• Consults with proposed/new vendors to discuss company needs, services, products, and company approval procedures.
• Provides direction to less-experienced Purchasing employees.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ purchasing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and systems.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong knowledge of construction procurement.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP; COINs experience preferred.
