Senior Purchasing Agent

About the role

The purpose of this position is to acquire services, supplies, and goods at a competitive price in a time‑efficient manner. The role is responsible for submitting invitations to bid, reviewing and analyzing purchases of supplies, services, goods, and equipment, reviewing acquisition methods, and preparing purchase orders and related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare invitations to bid and requests for proposals for quotations from vendors for products and services; submit to vendors as appropriate.
• Research market sources and vendors to locate the most cost‑effective and competitive pricing for products and services.
• Negotiate pricing with vendors as necessary.
• Consult with proposed or new vendors to discuss company needs, services, products, and approval procedures.
• Provide direction and mentorship to less‑experienced purchasing employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, or a related field.
• 5+ years of purchasing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and systems.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong knowledge of construction procurement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems; COINs experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent prioritization and multi‑tasking abilities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent ability to analyze and solve problems.
