Senior Purchasing Agent

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Purchasing Agent to support a rapidly growing business unit by sourcing materials, equipment, services, and subcontracted work for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Issue RFQs, invitations to bid, and requests for proposals to vendors and suppliers
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms
• Review vendor quotes, proposals, and bids
• Prepare and manage purchase orders and procurement documentation
• Support project teams with procurement activities for materials, equipment, and services
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Research market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure timely procurement to support active construction projects
• Provide guidance and support to junior purchasing team members

Requirements

• 5+ years of purchasing experience, including at least 3 years within the construction industry
• Experience supporting commercial, industrial, MEP, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or general construction projects
• Strong construction procurement knowledge
• Experience with RFQs, RFPs, bids, vendor quotes, and supplier negotiations
• Strong understanding of purchasing systems and ERP platforms
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
