Responsibilities
- Perform complex disassembly, inspection, repair, and rebuild of pumps and rotating equipment.
- Conduct advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause failure analysis.
- Interpret engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and technical procedures to execute repairs.
- Complete precision measurements and validate tolerances using advanced measuring tools.
- Prepare detailed inspection and condition reports electronically.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, and workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to resolve non-conforming conditions.
- Execute field service, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting independently.
- Interface with customers to communicate repair scope, findings, and recommendations.
- Support both short-term and extended field assignments as required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Pump Mechanic I and II team members.
- Afford support to supervisors with planning, estimating, and coordinating complex jobs.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees on procedures and best practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to ISO procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, job records, and inspection data.
- Perform advanced machining, alignment, and fabrication work as required.
- Ensure proper setup and safe operation of machine tools, lifting equipment, and test stands.
- Support housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and inventory coordination.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Model best practices in lifting, rigging, and equipment operation.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required; a technical degree is considered a plus.
- 7–10+ years of experience in rotating equipment repair, pump service, or heavy mechanical environments.
- Advanced knowledge of pump systems including single-stage, multi-stage, split case, vertical turbine, and API pumps.
- Proficiency in vibration analysis, laser alignment, and precision measurement.
- A strong background in machining, fabrication, and assembly practices.
- Demonstrated field service and commissioning experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as required.
- Basic computer literacy.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently: standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Occasionally: climbing, overhead work, operating forklifts and cranes.
- Must be able to wear a respirator as required by job tasks.
