Senior Public Works Estimator

Responsibilities

• Review specifications, drawings, and project site conditions to develop accurate estimates
• Analyze and build estimate data related to labor, materials, equipment, location and other cost factors
• Apply mathematical calculations to ensure accuracy of estimated costs
• Utilize historical cost data as a benchmarking tool
• Review quantity take-offs to verify accuracy of estimate inputs
• Analyze alternative construction methods and approaches to improve bid competitiveness
• Evaluate projects risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential construction challenges
• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and scope details
• Present estimate/proposal to management for review and validation
• Communicate bid information and project scope to field operations during pre-construction meetings

Requirements

• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or equivalent related work experience; 8 years of public estimating experience; Prior experience as a Project Manager/Engineer and/or take-off; Ability to manage and produce multiple estimates concurrently; Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, Primavera Scheduling software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Working knowledge of Caltrans and FAA construction methods and principles; Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Additional Requirements: Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
