Senior Estimator

About the role

The Christman Company is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead estimating and planning efforts for the region. This role involves supervising, mentoring, and developing estimates for assigned projects, supporting planning and engineering groups, and providing leadership in estimate preparation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, check work, and mentor Estimators and Estimating Engineers.
• Develop and oversee conceptual estimates for assigned projects.
• Support the planning and engineering groups in the development of all levels of estimates.
• Collect and analyze close-out and benchmark data.
• Lead major estimating efforts.
• Develop and clarify estimate reports.
• Cultivate strong subcontractor knowledge and relations.
• Present estimating results to clients and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all civil structure architectural trades.
• Be competent at conceptual and detailed levels of estimating.
• Value engineer and track progress.
• Drive deadlines and achieve results.
• Mastery of scope review process.
• Mastery of estimating software programs including on-screen take-off.
• Consult with architects and engineers on project parameters.
• Ensure database-pricing updates are completed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related job field.
• Eight (8) years of estimating experience in construction or related job field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Capability to complete large Construction Management (CM) and General Contractor (GC) Construction Management at Risk and Design Build projects and large complex competitive bid projects.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• The majority of work is completed outside at the construction site and in an office trailer.
• The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment.
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, use a telephone and operate a keyboard.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
