Senior Estimator

About the role

Tutor Perini Building Corp is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our office in Henderson, NV.

Responsibilities

• Cook up project-related tasks among the estimators from concept to GMP preparation
• Figure out, dissect, and share with the estimating team the detailed project plan (work breakdown structure, room counts, functions, areas, etc.) during a kickoff meeting
• Estimate costs based on project documents, identify and reduce project risks through strategic buyouts and budget contingencies
• Collect, scrutinize, and validate subcontractor/vendor budgets, bids, or quotes for assigned projects or packages
• Inspect and verify the scope of work and pricing (Subcontractor Analysis Sheets) of other project team members when leading the estimator
• Present the project scope, estimated costs, risks, and opportunities to executive management during the final review of assigned estimates
• Participate in proposal and budget presentations to clients and potential clients
• Deliver necessary project files to Operations Staff during a project turnover meeting using the Turnover Meeting Agenda and Checklist
• Engage in the buyout process with Operations and other estimating support as needed
• Support Project Operations Team for change order estimating and extended buyouts after contract or turnover to Operations Team
• Offer assistance in developing training programs, coaching, and orienting new estimators
• Visit Tutor Perini Building Corp. project sites as often as feasible to observe construction operations, understand jobsite logistics, means and methods, and Operations personnel
• Participate in preconstruction training programs, mastering all aspects of preconstruction

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering or construction management or similar from an accredited institution and 8+ years of relevant estimating, project management, and/or construction experience
• 5 or more years’ experience estimating for projects in the buildings sector
• Previous estimating experience on projects between $50-$100M in value
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with individual project owner’s representatives, material suppliers, and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations
• Capable of working collaboratively with a cohesive estimating team to produce comprehensive cost proposals and conclude efforts during team reviews on major projects
• Experience in alternative delivery methods such as design/build
• Experience in estimating software tools like On-Center and Timberline or similar
