Responsibilities
- Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.
- Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.
- Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
- Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
- Participates in client meetings and interactions.
- Leads preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
- Counsels and advises project teams on public involvement and communication strategies.
- Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.
- Develops and implements public and stakeholder involvement plans to guide outreach activities.
- Participates in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.
- Writes major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Participates in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 4 years related professional experience, or
- Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience
Qualifications
- Previous work experience in transportation, public outreach, or planning through prior employment
- Preferred qualifications and skills include:
- Experience with transportation infrastructure projects
- Experience leading comprehensive public involvement efforts
- Experience managing public outreach activities including public meetings, stakeholder briefings, open houses, and other in-person events
- Experience developing and implementing public and stakeholder involvement plans
- Experience with a variety of technology platforms to correspond with the public and develop and edit content including the Public Involvement Management Application (PIMA) as well as Adobe, Microsoft, and ArcGIS tools
Skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in GIS, traffic, or safety software
- Experience with public engagement and stakeholder management
- Ability to develop and implement public and stakeholder involvement plans
- Experience with Adobe, Microsoft, and ArcGIS tools

Pay
The approximate pay range for Massachusetts is $89,301.41 - $133,952.12.
