Join us at HNTB! We are seeking a Senior Public Engagement and Communications Specialist to help lead transportation infrastructure projects through comprehensive public involvement. Our department is a dynamic and exciting place to work, with countless opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.
  • Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.
  • Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
  • Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
  • Participates in client meetings and interactions.
  • Leads preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
  • Counsels and advises project teams on public involvement and communication strategies.
  • Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.
  • Develops and implements public and stakeholder involvement plans to guide outreach activities.
  • Participates in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.
  • Writes major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Participates in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 4 years related professional experience, or
  • Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience

Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in transportation, public outreach, or planning through prior employment
  • Preferred qualifications and skills include:
  • Experience with transportation infrastructure projects
  • Experience leading comprehensive public involvement efforts
  • Experience managing public outreach activities including public meetings, stakeholder briefings, open houses, and other in-person events
  • Experience developing and implementing public and stakeholder involvement plans
  • Experience with a variety of technology platforms to correspond with the public and develop and edit content including the Public Involvement Management Application (PIMA) as well as Adobe, Microsoft, and ArcGIS tools

Skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in GIS, traffic, or safety software
  • Experience with public engagement and stakeholder management
  • Ability to develop and implement public and stakeholder involvement plans
  • Experience with Adobe, Microsoft, and ArcGIS tools

Pay

The approximate pay range for Massachusetts is $89,301.41 - $133,952.12.
