Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (Specialist) - California Health Care Facility-

About the role

Located at California Health Care Facility (CHCF) in Stockton, CA (San Joaquin County). Reports to the Chief Psychologist, Correctional Facility or Chief of Mental Health Services. Limited Term appointment of 12 months, extendable up to 24 months or may become permanent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the institution’s suicide prevention program, including training, suicide risk evaluations, internal reviews of suicide attempts and completed suicides, and institutional audits, reviews, and improvement of suicide prevention practices.
• Coordinates and monitors the Mental Health Program’s training activities.
• Provides oversight of the psychological assessment program.
• Maintains order and supervises the conduct of the incarcerated population and protects the safety of persons and property.
• Some travel is required.

Requirements

• Must first take and pass the SENIOR PSYCHOLOGIST, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (SPECIALIST) examination to obtain list eligibility before applying.

Benefits

• Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) provides 5 hours of leave credits per month through June 2027.

Pay

• Base salary is reduced by 3 % under PLP 2025 (effective July 1, 2025).
• Eligible for a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment with CCHCS.
• Eligible for a monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year with CCHCS, totaling up to $20,000.
• Eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if selected for hire and remains employed with CCHCS for 90 days.
• Employees assigned to the Psychiatric Inpatient Program who provide direct patient care >50 % of the pay period receive a pay differential equal to 15 % of monthly base pay.
• Note: Salary figures in the posting do not reflect the PLP 2025 reduction.
