SENIOR PSYCHOLOGIST, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (SPECIALIST)

Job Description and Duties

The Senior Psychologist, Specialist, under the general direction of the Chief Psychologist, Training and Clinical Support (TU/CS), Statewide Mental Health Program (SMHP), provides clinical support, clinical training, and clinical curriculum development for the SMHP, TU/CS. Individual workload management and adherence to deadlines are crucial. The TU/CS supports the SMHP headquarters and the institutions statewide. Occasional travel may be required.

Important Information

Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend and a monthly recruitment and retention differential totaling $20,000 during their first year with CCHCS, if they meet the eligibility criteria. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) employees may also be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if selected for hire and remain employed with CCHCS for 90 days. For CDCR/CCHCS employees, a questionnaire must be completed to the best of their knowledge, including the referring employee’s name, classification, PERNR, and work location.

Working Conditions

This position is located in the Mental Health Program. The program’s mission is to provide ethical, professional, and effective mental health care services for patients within all 35 of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s institutions statewide. Up to 10% travel is required. The position is eligible for hybrid telework, and the successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
