Senior Psychiatrist (Sup), C&RS (Safety), Wasco State Prison, (WSP)

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 16, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 4.62 percent and receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Pay

The authorized hiring-above-minimum (HAM) rate for this classification is P $32,260 and Q $33,032. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Effective July 1, 2023, employees in this class who are physically located at and assigned to direct in-person patient care on grounds or at a facility shall receive a pay differential equivalent to 15% of their monthly base pay. Only employees who provide direct patient care, treating patients in-person, on grounds, or at a facility more than 50% of the pay period are eligible for this pay differential.

Eligible employees may receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend, as well as a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year with CCHCS (totaling $5,000), provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Additionally, CDCR/CCHCS employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if the selected candidate remains employed with CCHCS for 90 days.

About the Role

Under the direction of the Chief of Mental Health, the Senior Psychiatrist, Supervisor is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of inmates in the Correctional Treatment Center (CTC) and Mental Health Crisis Bed (MHCB). This includes intervention, weekly individual or group therapy, treatment and discharge planning, participating in interdisciplinary team evaluations, and consultation with psychiatrists, nursing, and other staff.

Requirements

• Possession of minimum qualifications as outlined in the Class Specification for Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor), Correctional and Rehabilitative Services (Safety).
• If meeting minimum qualifications with education, unofficial transcripts/diploma must be included for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
• Candidates with foreign degrees/transcripts must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency from a NACES-accredited evaluation service.
• Candidates new to CCHCS must submit to a background investigation utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting.
• Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment, followed by annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
• Employment history on the STD. 678 must be complete, including dates, accurate hours per week, total time worked, duties, responsibilities, and supervisor contact information.
