About the role

The Scion Group is a forward-thinking organization dedicated to enhancing the student living experience. We are currently seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains general ledgers in compliance with GAAP and updates monthly.
  • Prepares applicable monthly journal entries.
  • Analyzes and prepares monthly financials for assigned properties.
  • Executes monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Researches and reports financial and operational variances.
  • Reviews revenue and contracts, monthly.
  • Reviews month end financials prepared by the Property Accounting Team.
  • Provides insight into variances to the Directors and Managers.
  • Supports the Operations team as needed, regarding financial performance of assigned properties.
  • Manages monthly accruals, TRS entries, ground leases, and completes Cap Ex reviews and proper tagging.
  • Responds to auditor inquiries as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of post-baccalaureate work experience in an accounting function; experience in Real Estate or Property Management is a plus.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with PMS systems such as Entrata is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Manages multiple projects and meets goals and deadlines timely and consistently.
  • Versatile, flexible, and thrives in an environment where there are constantly changing priorities.

  • Works well with all levels of management.

Pay

The base salary range for this full-time position is base + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

This position is based out of our central office in Chicago, IL and is fully on-site.
