What You'll Do
- Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all required financial information for your assigned portfolio of communities.
- Collaborate with Community Managers and Accounting Team members to perform day-to-day financial operations such as:
- Maintaining tenant ledgers
- Reviewing AP invoice activity and related GL account coding
- Complete Monthly financial closing process, including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly closing journal entries
- Managing closing matters
- Monthly financial reports
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Partner with the Reporting team to provide meaningful variance comments.
- Assist Operations Team with annual budget process
- Participate in the external audit process, including preparation of schedules
- IIdentify and recommend process improvements and efficiencies.
- Administering accounting procedures and monitoring internal controls
- Complete other ad hoc projects as assigned in a timely manner.
- Utilize accounting IT systems such as Yardi and Rent Manager.
- Complete special projects assigned in a timely manner.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Advanced degree and/or CPA is strongly preferred, but not required
- Real estate or manufactured housing background a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (must be able to manipulate pivot tables & utilize formulas such as xlookups, sumifs, if statements, etc.)
- Some experience with databases, power query, SQL, VBA, etc. a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative
- Good verbal and written communication skills that enable you to work in a collaborative manner with diverse teams in a variety of different departments
- Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
- Strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines
- Persistent sense of urgency and accuracy, with a keen appreciation for detail
- Self-starter with a creative, enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative outlook
- Aptitude for learning and utilizing various accounting systems
- Willing to travel 1-2 trips a year for training or to visit communities
