What You'll Do

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all required financial information for your assigned portfolio of communities.
  • Collaborate with Community Managers and Accounting Team members to perform day-to-day financial operations such as:
    • Maintaining tenant ledgers
    • Reviewing AP invoice activity and related GL account coding
    • Complete Monthly financial closing process, including:
      • Bank reconciliations
      • Monthly closing journal entries
      • Managing closing matters
      • Monthly financial reports
      • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Partner with the Reporting team to provide meaningful variance comments.
  • Assist Operations Team with annual budget process
  • Participate in the external audit process, including preparation of schedules
  • IIdentify and recommend process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Administering accounting procedures and monitoring internal controls
  • Complete other ad hoc projects as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Utilize accounting IT systems such as Yardi and Rent Manager.
  • Complete special projects assigned in a timely manner.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Advanced degree and/or CPA is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Real estate or manufactured housing background a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (must be able to manipulate pivot tables & utilize formulas such as xlookups, sumifs, if statements, etc.)
  • Some experience with databases, power query, SQL, VBA, etc. a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative
  • Good verbal and written communication skills that enable you to work in a collaborative manner with diverse teams in a variety of different departments
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Persistent sense of urgency and accuracy, with a keen appreciation for detail
  • Self-starter with a creative, enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative outlook
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing various accounting systems
  • Willing to travel 1-2 trips a year for training or to visit communities
