Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted performance, and provide clear commentary for ownership and leadership
- Prepare accurate, timely reporting packages for owners, investors, and lenders as needed
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including bank reconciliations
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Partner with Regional Supervisors and Community Managers on annual budget development
- Support quarterly reforecasting and monitor performance against budget throughout the year
- Identify trends and flag risks or opportunities to leadership proactively
- Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight
- Review and approve invoices, coding, and vendor payments for assigned properties
- Ensure rent collections are posted accurately and timely in RealPage (or comparable software)
- Oversee delinquency reporting and support collections processes as needed
- Manage petty cash reconciliation and expense reporting
- Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with lender, investor, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Support year-end audits and tax preparation with clean, well-documented records
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready financial files across all assigned properties
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as the go-to financial resource for on-site teams, translating numbers into actionable insight
- Train and support Community Managers on financial best practices and reporting accuracy
- Attend regional and corporate management meetings as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and employee information
Requirements
- 3+ years of property accounting experience, multifamily preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and property-level financial reporting
- Proven experience with budget preparation, variance analysis, and month-end close
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with knowledge of RealPage
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, not required
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
