About the role
The Risk Manager develops, communicates, and champions risk policies and processes for the organization. This individual provides hands-on development of risk models involving interconnection, development, construction, procurement, financial, commercial, and operational risk. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, along with judgment, restraint, and communication skills requisite for a senior manager, are essential.
Responsibilities
- Implement an overall risk management process for the organization
- Prepare risk registers for key projects, track risks and mitigations through project life
- Organize and communicate portfolio risks to senior management
- Create business continuity plans to mitigate risks
- Review major contracts or internal business proposals/models
- Educate the wider company about risk, contingency, and uncertainty around projects
- Provide guidance and reduce uncertainty during the project development lifecycle to key stakeholders
- Ensure a complete and thorough understanding of the complexities of risk management are communicated and trained as appropriate
- Provide risk management tools and techniques to stakeholders to ensure increased accuracy with cost and schedules
- Provide a structured approach using risk management for high-quality decision making
- Manage daily risk management processes to ensure adherence to the application
- Ensure the quality of risk management processes by auditing and verifying metrics are continually aligned and updated
Requirements
- 3+ years of related experience in industry and/or risk management
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience) in computer science, engineering, finance, business, economics, or related field
- Advanced degree, certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), holder of a Master’s Certificate in Project Management, Business Administration, or similar preferred
- Familiarity with renewable construction and project development preferred
- Strong quantitative skills with ability to produce spreadsheets, data modeling, database queries, and other analytical tools
- Must be self-directed and demonstrate initiative
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification a plus
- Relevant experience in construction, project development, or management
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information appropriately
- Working knowledge of construction law, contracts, claims avoidance, insurance, and contract administration preferred
- Ability to analyze project risks and proactively identify solutions with a flexible, creative, and solution-focused outlook
- Ability to navigate and succeed in a highly matrixed reporting organization
- Ability to travel 20%
