Senior Project Manager - Wastewater Infrastructure
About the role
We're seeking a seasoned Project Manager with deep experience in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) projects and heavy civil construction to lead complex infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning. This high-impact role involves managing large-scale upgrades to existing wastewater facilities, collaborating with engineering partners, subcontractors, and operations teams to deliver critical environmental infrastructure projects.
This is a hybrid role based in Hanford, CA, requiring regular on-site presence and approximately 25% travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of wastewater treatment plant projects, including design, construction, commissioning, and closeout
- Own budget, schedule, scope, and overall project performance
- Manage cross-functional teams including engineering consultants, subcontractors, field teams, and client stakeholders
- Oversee design development to ensure alignment with project requirements and constructability
- Support procurement, contract management, and equipment sourcing
- Drive construction execution, including site coordination, safety, and quality oversight
- Lead client communication, reporting, and stakeholder coordination
- Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and cost forecasting
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards
- Guide projects through commissioning and handoff to operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 7-10+ years of experience managing wastewater treatment plant or similar process infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of:
- WWTP processes and systems
- Heavy civil construction (excavation, utilities, structural work)
- Engineering design coordination and constructability
- Proven experience managing:
- Budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
- Complex, multi-stakeholder construction projects
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with project management tools such as Procore
- Background in process-driven or industrial environments
