Responsibilities
- Manage study, design, and construction phases for wastewater projects such as treatment plant upgrades, process improvements, process modeling, etc.
- Drive strong financial performance through effective project budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Provide exceptional client service by proactively addressing their needs, regulatory concerns, and operational challenges.
- Build, lead, and coordinate Massachusetts-based wastewater team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Oversee wastewater project design elements including preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment, solids handling, and hydraulic capacity improvements.
- Avoid non-compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and deliverables in alignment with contracts and funding requirements.
- Utilize project management tools (Deltek Vantagepoint) to track performance, budgets, and staff utilization.
- Lead business development efforts primarily in Massachusetts, including identifying opportunities with municipalities and utilities and preparing technical fee proposals.
- Coverage with subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout study, design, and construction phases.
- Implement and enforce project-specific quality management plans for wastewater design and documentation.
- Identify and communicate risks related to permitting, constructability, and system performance; collaborate with leadership on mitigation strategies.
- May serve as a TEAM LEAD when applicable, supervising staff, mentoring junior engineers, and managing workloads to maintain project fluidity.
Requirements
- BS or MS/ME (preferred) in Civil Engineering with Sanitary or Environmental Engineering focus
- 20+ years of progressive experience working on wastewater projects including treatment, collection, and conveyance systems
- Strong technical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes
- Professional Engineering License in MA, with ability to obtain in NH, ME and/or VT
- Strong communication skills, an acute understanding of project finances, scheduling, and client management skills
