Responsibilities
- Owner’s Representative & Liaison: Function as the primary interface between the project owner and EPCs, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, inspectors, and other third-party vendors.
- Represent Owner Interests On-Site: Ensure contract adherence, quality standards, safety compliance, and schedule performance.
- Project Execution & Field Oversight: Oversee and report status during end-to-end execution of complex solar projects, from pre-construction planning through commissioning and turnover.
- Field Presence & Coordination: Provide active on-site presence to monitor construction progress, resolve field issues, and drive corrective actions.
- Coordinate Field Activities: Coordinate field construction activities including civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning scopes.
- Monitor Performance Testing: Monitor performance testing methods and results.
- Planning, Schedule & Cost Control: Develop and manage detailed project execution plans, track and report schedule performance, productivity, risks, and cost impacts.
- Vendor Progress & Change Requests: Review vendor progress, change requests, and pay applications to ensure alignment with contractual and budgetary expectations.
- Technical Leadership: Apply strong technical judgment to solar plant design, installation means and methods, interconnection requirements, and commissioning activities.
- Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies; facilitate resolution of on-site conflicts, interface challenges, and unforeseen conditions.
- Communication & Reporting: Provide clear, timely communication to owner stakeholders, leadership, and project teams regarding progress, risks, and key decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 10+ years of progressive project management experience, with significant emphasis on utility-scale solar projects.
- Experience implementing and enforcing construction safety programs, including hazard analysis, regulatory compliance (OSHA and applicable federal standards), and on-site safety leadership.
- Demonstrated field experience managing solar construction activities and vendor-led execution.
- Strong understanding of EPC delivery models, construction sequencing, safety programs, and commissioning processes.
- Experience acting as owner’s representative or lead interface between owners and contractors is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, power generation facilities, and grid-interconnection requirements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and vendors in fast-paced, high-risk field environments.
- PMP certification preferred.
