Senior Project Manager - Traffic/Transportation Operations

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Traffic/Transportation Operations to join its transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This role supports a variety of traffic operations and transportation engineering projects, focusing on improving system performance, safety, and multimodal mobility.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive project execution across traffic operations and transportation engineering initiatives through implementation, ensuring alignment with broader team objectives.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
• Oversee and contribute to technical work related to:
• Traffic signal timing, coordination, and system optimization
• Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations and corridor management
• Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and deployment
• Signal system maintenance, asset management, and performance monitoring (SPM)
• Traffic operations studies, warrant analyses, and operational improvements
• Traffic control plans and maintenance of traffic
• Multimodal and Complete Streets initiatives, including traffic calming strategies
• Collaborate with municipalities, transportation agencies, contractors, and utility partners to support successful, on-time project delivery.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; monitor progress and ensure quality outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality control for junior staff.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
• Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant transportation engineering and/or traffic operations experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of traffic operations principles and methodologies.
• Experience with traffic analysis tools and industry software is preferred.
• Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Pay Range

$117,000 - $171,000 USD
