Senior Project Manager, Structures

About the role

As a senior member of our Structures team at RK&K, you will focus on leading a variety of dynamic structural pursuits and projects as it relates to transportation. You will assist in leading our structural design and engineering group throughout Virginia with development and delivery of structural assignments, assist with business development, marketing and team to secure future clients and workload, provide structural expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the structural aspects of the project, serve as project/program manager on a variety of structure related projects, produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates, facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans, serve as liaison between client and firm, QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work, provide bridge inspection for clients as needed, provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field, hire, train, and mentor entry level and junior level structural engineers.

Responsibilities

• Aid in leading the structural design and engineering group
• Develop and deliver structural assignments
• Secure future clients and workload through business development, marketing, and team efforts
• Provide structural expertise across all project phases
• Manage projects from conceptual engineering to construction administration
• Create construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
• Facilitate meetings, presentations, and approvals
• Act as liaison between client and firm
• Ensure design work is complete and accurate
• Conduct bridge inspections for clients
• Exercise engineering judgment and initiative
• Hire, train, and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering
• Minimum (15) years of bridge design experience
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia

Preferred Skills and Experience

• VDOT structures/bridge experience, including experience on VDOT DB Projects
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering
• Completion of NHI 80 hour bridge inspection training or equivalent training

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, including proposal development

Skills

• Strong understanding of structural operations
• Hands-on experience with bridge design and field operations
