Senior Project Manager - Mission Critical
About the role
The Senior Project Manager leads large-scale, mission-critical data center construction projects. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across project planning, scheduling, resource management, financial performance, and client relationships.
Responsibilities
Develop and lead comprehensive project plans defining scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines for complex, mission-critical data center projects.
Strategically identify and allocate human and material resources to ensure optimal project execution while balancing risk, cost, and schedule.
Lead, coordinate, and align multidisciplinary project teams, including subcontractors and internal partners, to drive consistency and performance.
Establish clear expectations, assign responsibilities, and provide direction to ensure effective resource utilization and adherence to critical milestones.
Continuously evaluate project risks, resolve issues decisively, and adapt plans as conditions change—demonstrating ingenuity and sound judgment at scale.
Set and enforce rigorous quality control standards reflecting a commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and reliability in mission-critical environments.
Conduct regular inspections and collaborate with clients, designers, field teams, and subcontractors to address quality concerns proactively.
Monitor construction progress, lead regular status meetings, and ensure schedules are maintained throughout all phases of construction.
Ensure complete, accurate, and timely project documentation, reinforcing transparency, accountability, and integrity.
Lead oversight of project financials, including forecasting, cost control, and risk exposure, with a strong emphasis on responsible stewardship and value delivery.
Review and negotiate client contracts, including scope, terms, schedules, and services, ensuring alignment and clarity for all stakeholders.
Maintain rigorous change order logs and ensure all modifications are tracked through completion and commissioning.
Evaluate, document, and communicate scope, schedule, and cost impacts of design and construction changes, leading client negotiations related to change orders.
Oversee and mentor a team of Project Managers, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development.
Foster a positive, high-performance culture grounded in safety, collaboration, accountability, and respect.
Represent the company as a strategic partner focused on reliability, performance, and long-term success.
Act as a senior brand ambassador, promoting the company’s values, expertise, and leadership within the electrical contracting and data center markets.
Requirements
Advanced ability to perform due diligence and lead risk assessments on large, complex construction projects.
Demonstrated ethical leadership and integrity in working with clients, partners, and internal teams.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
Expertise in mission critical infrastructure, including power distribution, redundancy, cooling systems, and commissioning.
Ability to lead complex projects with advanced technical systems, phased turnover, and strict operational constraints.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment.
Proficient in tracking, analyzing, and forecasting project financial performance.
Skilled in managing project schedules, including critical path, recovery planning, and milestone accountability.
Experience delivering in highly schedule-driven environments with aggressive timelines and minimal downtime tolerance.
Willingness to travel and maintain consistent field engagement to support execution.
Demonstrated Accomplishments: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and Accubid. Proven success leading large-scale, mission critical construction projects with high complexity and contract value. Track record of delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting quality and safety standards. Experience managing cross-functional teams, trade partners, vendors, and client stakeholders. Strong ability to build and maintain long-term client and partner relationships. Experience working in live or operational environments with high reliability and risk management requirements. Comprehensive understanding of safety standards, with a commitment to leading a strong safety culture.
Qualifications
Demonstrated success leading complex industrial and/or commercial electrical construction projects, with responsibility for overall project strategy, financial performance, quality, and team leadership.
Extensive experience delivering mission-critical or data center projects through planning, construction, change management, and commissioning is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of advanced education, technical training, and applied leadership experience will be considered.
