Senior Project Manager - Learning & Development
About the role
This role leads the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale training programs supporting enterprise system implementations, business transformation initiatives, and operational priorities. The position serves as a trusted consultant and strategic partner to business leaders, project teams, and stakeholders, ensuring training strategies align with implementation objectives and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale training programs supporting enterprise system implementations, business transformation initiatives, and operational priorities.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
- Assess organizational impacts and identify affected employee populations, role-based training requirements, and readiness needs associated with system and process changes.
- Serve as a trusted consultant and strategic partner to business leaders, project teams, and stakeholders, ensuring training strategies align with implementation objectives and operational requirements.
- Partner with project teams to define training scope, develop execution strategies, and support workforce readiness for system deployment and go-live.
- Lead the end-to-end training lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities in alignment with ADDIE and Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodologies.
- Ensure training solutions address knowledge and skill gaps, support employee readiness, accelerate user adoption, and drive sustained job performance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies, proactively escalating concerns and recommending corrective actions when needed.
- Cook up and manage instructional designers, training developers, SMEs, vendors, and other resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality learning solutions.
- Leverage learning technologies, Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital adoption platforms, and data analytics tools to support training deployment, learner engagement, and performance measurement.
- Measure training effectiveness through learner feedback, adoption metrics, operational performance indicators, and business outcomes, using data to inform continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and emerging learning technologies to modernize training delivery, improve learner experiences, and enhance workforce capability development.
- Ensure all training solutions align with safety, compliance, regulatory, and operational excellence requirements.
- Support Operating Units in sustaining and evolving training programs as systems, processes, and business needs change.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, business, organizational development, or a related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of seven years of experience leading training initiatives that support enterprise system implementations, business transformations, or digital modernization efforts.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale, cross-functional training projects in matrixed environments, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and implementation readiness activities.
- Experience conducting training needs analyses and translating business and system requirements into comprehensive learning strategies, curricula, and role-based training solutions.
- Strong understanding of change impacts associated with system implementations and the ability to develop training approaches that support employee readiness, adoption, and sustained performance.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, consulting, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align business leaders, project teams, subject matter experts, and impacted employee groups.
- Experience partnering with project managers, change management teams, functional leads, and business stakeholders to identify training requirements, mitigate learning risks, and support successful deployment outcomes.
- Experience managing training vendors, external partners, and contract resources in support of training development, delivery, and evaluation efforts.
- Experience leveraging learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital learning platforms, virtual learning environments, and reporting tools to support the deployment, administration, and measurement of training programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience using data, performance metrics, and feedback mechanisms to assess training effectiveness, measure adoption, and drive continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated leadership, accountability, initiative, and organizational effectiveness, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, work independently, and foster collaboration across diverse teams.
- Seven years of experience designing and developing systems and/or technical course materials.
