About the role
The School District of Philadelphia is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee large-scale Capital Programs projects and initiatives, particularly in the Information Technology Specialty. This role involves facilitating dialogue with various stakeholders, managing project timelines, and ensuring strategic planning and progress evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Develops strategies for appropriate scopes of work and participates or directs contract negotiations.
- Plans and manages timelines, monitors progress, and provides progress updates to project leads.
- Manages large-scale projects across various departments, divisions, and schools to implement the District's strategic plan.
- Works with selected teams on specific aspects of meeting project goals in a timely manner.
- Prepares, manages, audits, and maintains project budgets.
- Prepares reports related to project status and projections.
- Directly supervises project or department staff as required.
- Builds good communications and relationships between the assigned office and central offices and schools.
- Supports all administrative and managerial project work related to the Equity Coalition and Equity Partners Fellowship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Six years of full-time, paid, professional, experience in either operations, finance, education, or information technology, which includes serving as a team lead or project manager.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large or complex projects and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems.
- Demonstrated ability to represent a superior at meetings and conferences.
- Demonstrated ability to present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, project management, public administration, or a related field.
- Six years of full-time, paid, professional, experience in either administration, operations, finance, education, project management, policy development, or capital program administration, which includes serving as a team lead or project manager.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current technology, testing methodologies, and project life cycle.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply best practice standards to a product’s design, test, and production phases.
- Demonstrated ability to review and comprehend technical documentation.
Skills
- Knowledge of Asana Project Management, FileMaker Pro Advanced, Excel or Microsoft Project, Vision and/or other productivity and scheduling tools.
- Understanding of current trends and practices of information resource technologies and ability to adapt to newer fields.
- Knowledge of internet technologies and development practices.
