About the role

The Senior Project Manager, Florida Innovation plays a leadership role within the Florida Innovation team, managing complex early-stage innovation portfolios while helping shape the structure, consistency, and reach of innovation support across the campus. This role operates with greater autonomy and strategic responsibility, supporting higher-complexity initiatives, mentoring others, and strengthening integration between innovation, practice priorities, and enterprise partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of early-stage innovations with higher complexity, cross-departmental scope, or strategic importance.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to innovators, helping teams navigate ambiguity, tradeoffs, and decision points.
  • Independently develop milestone-based plans, learning agendas, and early validation strategies across diverse innovation types.
  • Identify risks, barriers, and pivot points; recommend course corrections based on learning and feasibility.
  • Coordinate closely with legal, IP, finance, digital, research, and enterprise innovation partners to reduce delays and improve throughput.
  • Support funding identification efforts and assist with internal or external applications and reporting, as appropriate.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to Program Managers and coordinators within the team.
  • Contribute to innovation portfolio insights, priority-setting discussions, and leadership-ready reporting.
  • Help design and refine scalable innovation programs, intake models, and engagement strategies for Florida.
  • Represent Florida Innovation in enterprise forums, academic collaborations, and cross-site initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years' experience in Project Management and business-related activities or master's degree with 7 years' experience in Project Management.
  • Education preference: project management, business administration, agile/scrum, management.
  • Active (unexpired) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • Candidates should also include any certifications they have, which do not supersede the PMP certification, which may include but are not necessarily limited to Certified Product Management, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner, Risk Management Professional (RMP) and/or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP).
  • Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorships now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. Citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
