Senior Project Manager/Estimator - Foundation

Responsibilities

  • Finalize client and public entity estimates and proposals.
  • Seek out and complete bid opportunities through client relationships, network opportunities, public/private postings, and assigned bid opportunities.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate preparation of full estimates on large complex work, including reviewing plan and specifications, calculating quantities, gathering quotes and submittals, constructing the bid, and creating the bid submittal.
  • Provide overall management direction to multiple projects, establishing project directives, coordinating pre-construction meetings, and ensuring communication and coordination between project managers, field, and office support.
  • Work with operations staff to coordinate appropriate construction methods and staffing needs.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licensing.
  • Manage costs by tracking labor and materials.
  • Manage billing with Project Coordinators to ensure accuracy of invoicing, preparation of payables, accounts receivable collections, approval of accounts payable in a timely manner, and management of over/under billing monthly.
  • Communicate and work with appropriate staff to meet all EEO/DBE project requirements.
  • Use appropriate resources to troubleshoot any project issues that may arise.
  • Solicit approval for all project change orders (before work is completed) and manage changes to the scope of work to maintain profitability.
  • Coordinate efforts and communication with the project owner/general contractor to work toward safe and timely project completion and adjust project scope of work and timelines as needed.
  • Create and maintain good working relationships with current clients; responsible for creating relationships with potential future clients.
  • Affirm Veit’s Leadership on all matters of relative importance.
  • Supervise Estimator I, Estimator II, and Project Manager/Estimators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; 15+ years of estimating and managing large complex projects experience in related scope of work.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, and internal safety complaints.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of Bidding and Project Management software, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of situations and events and respond accordingly.
  • Ability to seek counsel, when needed, and use a variety of resources.
  • Ability to develop and nurture lasting client relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

Qualifications

  • Frequent exposure to variable work environments, including unique conditions outside a typical office environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving machinery, odors, dust, pressurized equipment.
  • Occasionally exposed to electrical hazards.
  • Frequently exposed to high noise levels, but hearing protection is provided/required.
  • Frequent exposure to environmental conditions, loud noises, and variable weather including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.

Pay

The base salary range may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.

Schedule

Most often an office environment, however jobsite travel is required.
