Senior Project Manager Development
About the Role
In this position, you will lead development projects from beginning to end, overseeing cross-functional teams across the NextEra Energy Resources organization. You will drive origination and business development efforts that directly impact NextEra Energy’s bottom line, focusing on developing renewable projects located in the East Region. This role involves presenting projects and updates to Development leadership and collaborating with subject matter experts as a dynamic team project leader. You will travel across sites to gain expertise in the regional energy market, the project, and the local community, diving into the process and progression of new and existing projects. The role is based in Juno Beach and requires travel.
Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result
- Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities, and financial negotiations
- Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects
- Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
- Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting, and interconnection
- Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
- Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
- Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
- Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties, and members of the community
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing renewable asset business opportunities
- Experience leading projects that require land acquisition, permitting, zoning, environmental studies, and interconnection evaluations
- Experience with project valuations, commercial agreements, and tax abatements
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Experience with implementing project management principles and process design
- Experience and proficiency with corporate finance principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Comfortability in community engagement
- Prior energy experience, an MBA, or a relevant graduate degree
