U.S. Engineering Innovations is an industry leader in mechanical contracting, construction, service, and maintenance solutions. We are seeking a Senior Project Manager who believes in tackling complex challenges and driving projects to successful completion.
About the Role
The Senior Project Manager is a key member of the US Engineering Innovations team responsible for managing the profitability and success of projects. They oversee the entire project lifecycle from planning through completion, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities
- Proficient in plan/spec and conceptual estimating in design/build/assist scenarios.
- Guides customers towards the best solutions that align with their mission.
- Ensures projects are installed on schedule while adhering to design criteria.
- Works with the customer base to ensure conceptual designs and budgets meet their needs and expectations.
- Manages preconstruction activities such as formulating a project execution plan, detailed estimate reviews, commodity and equipment procurement, subcontractor selection, issuing subcontracts, submittals, and developing the project schedule.
- Establishes project objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
- Forecasts project profitability monthly, identifies trends, and adjusts the project execution plan as needed.
- Manages subcontractor proposal requests, scope reviews, and issuance of subcontracts.
- Monitors and manages the schedule of field and subcontractor progress.
- Coordinates safety programs and oversees job site safety reviews.
- Coordinates all job correspondence.
- Identifies opportunities for future projects and networks internally and externally to pursue such opportunities.
- Understands and promotes the offerings of US Engineering’s sister companies when appropriate.
- Supports the professional development of other team members through education, mentoring, and continuous feedback.
- Conducts quarterly performance assessments of support staff and provides field leadership feedback.
- Aligns all project execution plans with the overall strategic direction of US Engineering.
- Facilitates Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and work packs, builds, maintains, and tracks project schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM).
- Hosts weekly internal coordination meetings.
- Responsible for creating and tracking the closeout process, including all equipment startups, QA/QC, Commissioning, and warranty.
Job Scope
The Senior Project Manager must have the ability to manage multiple projects ranging from $500,000 to approximately $20,000,000 in value. They act as a project manager, leading a team whose composition varies by project.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of field and relevant project leadership experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience required.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical construction industry practices, processes, and standards, including systems design, installation, and servicing.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and basic knowledge of plumbing systems and industrial processes.
- Innovative and effective management techniques to maximize project team performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, persuasion, and time management.
- Basic financial acumen to manage project budgets and performance.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and other relevant computer programs.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-management skills.
- Ability to drive projects to successful completion.
Physical and Travel Demands
- Routine daily driving to project sites required.
- Infrequent overnight travel based on project assignments.
- Physical demands include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Position involves sitting and standing, using a telephone, keyboard, and computer monitor.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $115,360 to $163,624 and is based on a variety of factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Your total compensation will exceed your paycheck, including a potential year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, matching retirement contributions, and matching 529 contributions.
