Senior Project Manager
About the role
The Senior Project Manager will assist their assigned manager with execution of assigned tasks, production of on time and high-quality work product, and coordination with other team members as assigned or requested. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for independent creation of technical work product as a single contributor and for supporting the success of their entire assigned practice area as the highest priority, regardless of any assigned subpractice area focus, or specific client engagement or relationship.
Core Responsibilities
- Performs management and consulting services as assigned ensuring project continues on schedule and within budgetary and quality requirements.
- Ensures documentation relative to outstanding issues, change orders and requests for information are appropriately maintained and tracked.
- Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated avoiding unnecessary delays and cost overruns.
- Works with client to ensure effective regulatory agency relations and planning to expedite project design approval and permitting processes.
- Ensures effective communications and a collaborative work environment. When leading projects, the position will provide management and oversight. When a team member, will help develop tools and reports.
- Supervises, develops, and maintains program budgets, schedules and status reports.
- Provides oversight and management of external vendors.
- Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews plans to ensure standards of building performance, quality, cost schedules and safety are maintained.
- Reviews project delivery team member’s invoices and applications for payment for compliance with all contracts.
- Responsible for supporting assigned manager in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area (including proactive creation of work product to meet or exceed defined utilization targets, oversight of execution of profitable technical assignments, and communication with clients as assigned or requested).
- Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able to provide technical work product review, and monitor own progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self is consistently high quality.
- Support assigned manager in monitoring of all relevant data related to own performance such as individual utilization rate vs target, client deadlines, accurate and timely timesheet data, etc.
- Conduct own behavior in a “lead by example” manner, with emphasis on positivity.
- Travel, as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
- Perform quality control of all assigned service delivery and self-generated work product, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality.
- Provide feedback to project team leader in a manner that assists with rapid identification and escalation of any client, or technical or operational challenges.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Requires a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 6 years of related experience, or 11 years of related experience and no degree.
- Experience in healthcare design, construction and/or facilities industry, including direct project management experience with construction projects of increasing complexity.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the delivery of health care facilities including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and psychiatric hospitals from programming through facility activation.
- Must have been in responsible charge of the delivery of major projects exceeding $50 million construction cost and of significant complexity in at least two (2) of the above four (4) categories.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, solid interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities and work group facilitation skills.
- Leadership skills and the ability to initiate and maintain clear communications are preferred.
- Demonstration of leadership ability, including the management and delegation of appropriate tasks to technical and non-technical support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to gather needs and translate requests into potential solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software is preferred.
