About the role
The Senior Project Manager will act as the client’s representative in managing a project through its design stages from concept through construction within the client’s time and value constraints. The role is defined as a planned undertaking with defined goals, work plans, timeliness, and implementation strategies to correspond to client needs.
Responsibilities
- Experience leading large, complex public-sector, civic, entertainment, convention center, sports, or mixed-use district development projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of project management, including planning, design management, procurement, construction administration, project controls, scheduling, cost management, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary owner's project management team, establishing clear roles, priorities, and accountability.
- Manage project governance, executive reporting, decision-making processes, and overall project execution.
- Facilitate and lead executive meetings, stakeholder workshops, design reviews, public presentations, and coordination meetings.
- Provide strategic guidance to the client on project risks, opportunities, budgets, schedules, procurement, phasing, and delivery strategies.
- Direct and coordinate the work of architects, engineers, specialty consultants, contractors, and third-party stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Oversee project controls including budget management, cost forecasting, scheduling, change management, risk management, and reporting.
- Cookordination with multiple public agencies, utility providers, adjacent developments, and community stakeholders to minimize disruption and maintain project momentum.
- Develop and oversee complex construction phasing and operational continuity plans, particularly for projects within active downtown or urban environments.
- Navigate politically sensitive issues with professionalism, diplomacy, and sound judgment while maintaining strong relationships with elected officials, agency representatives, business leaders, and community organizations.
- Ensure informed, timely decision-making while balancing competing stakeholder priorities and project objectives.
- Represent the client in public forums, executive briefings, and stakeholder presentations with confidence and credibility.
Requirements
- 4-year college degree in architecture, construction management or engineering science.
- 5-10+ years relevant experience of management of staff including project professionals and/or technicians, managing major projects including development of project scope, goals, work plans, timeliness, and implantation strategies, developing measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes.
- Prior experience with developing and monitoring contracts required.
