Senior Project Manager

Responsible for assigned project work (could be singular or multiple projects) and all activities associated with the project(s), including oversight of MEI field teams and coordination from the quoting phase through on-site management to final project close-out.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and other technical documents, answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project, monitor costs and project progress.
  • Conduct Pre-Hand-Off Meeting (prior to commencement of the project) and Post-Hand-Off Meeting (post completion of the project) with the sales and operations teams to ensure clarity of job scope, expectations, and establish lessons learned.
  • Understand contract language and execute projects successfully to remain within contract scope.
  • Plan, administer, and complete assigned projects, which may cross several functional areas such as facilities, operations, or administration.
  • Manage assignments that vary in length, complexity, and are multi-phased.
  • Supervise staff by providing work direction to individuals supporting a project, including payroll verification and approval.
  • Communicate directly with clients, contractors, designers, and subcontractors using a Request for Information/Quote/Proposal (RF/Q/P) process concerning project cost, scope of work, staffing, scheduling, and change orders.
  • Collaborate with various teams to execute the project management plan; revise and document the plan via a structured change order process to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Prepare project status reports and ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.
  • Oversee all job site management activities of crews and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with the sales team in all phases of the project and with safety professionals to coordinate safety training, accident and injury investigations, and equipment or property damage incident investigations.
  • Travel to client job sites and work onsite while directing all project activities.
  • Develop detailed project schedules including milestones, deliverables, and dependencies based on business objectives, budget, scope, timeline, and risks with cross-functional team members.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings to update project progress and resolve issues while communicating with team members, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Maintain project files in SharePoint to ensure project continuity and historic documentation.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct as a representative of MEI, adhering to the corporate mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide supervision for Project Managers and Project Engineers in the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, industrial engineering, or related field; MBA a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
  • Three to five years managing pharmaceutical or life science-related projects.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience managing multiple projects in a production facility or industrial environment.
  • Five plus years of proven machinery moving, construction, project management, or construction safety experience.
  • Familiarity with various job site/field concepts, practices, procedures, bottlenecks, and risks.
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly self-directed and motivated; can effectively lead a team or work independently.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Effective negotiation skills with peers around priority and design.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve conflict in preliminary stages.
  • Able to regularly participate and contribute to department and team meetings.
  • Ability to read and interpret data, contracts, blueprints, schematics, and detailed plans.
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to quickly attain one.
  • Able to travel to project site locations and stay on or near the project site for long durations.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, or stooping/crouching.
  • Lift and/or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent work outdoors with exposure to inclement weather, uneven or broken terrain, and maneuvering around heavy equipment or machinery.
  • Work may be performed in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to high noise levels or low-lit areas.
  • Frequent travel by automobile to various project sites.
