About the Role

The Senior Project Manager oversees assigned project work, which may include a single project or multiple projects. Responsibilities span from the quoting phase through onsite management to final project close-out, including oversight of MEI field teams and coordination of all project-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and other technical documents, answer questions regarding project scope and timing, monitor costs, and track project progress.
  • Conduct Pre-Hand-Off and Post-Hand-Off meetings with sales and operations teams to ensure clarity of job scope, expectations, and lessons learned.
  • Understand and execute contract language to remain within project scope.
  • Plan, administer, and complete assigned projects, which may cross functional areas such as facilities, operations, or administration.
  • Manage multi-phased assignments of varying length and complexity.
  • Supervise staff by providing work direction and verifying/approving payroll.
  • Communicate directly with clients, contractors, designers, and subcontractors using RFI/RFQ/RFP processes regarding project cost, scope, staffing, scheduling, and change orders.
  • Collaborate with teams to execute and revise the project management plan via a structured change order process.
  • Prepare project status reports and ensure adherence to contract specifications.
  • Oversee all job site management activities for crews and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with the sales team throughout the project and coordinate with safety professionals on training, investigations, and incident management.
  • Travel to and work onsite at client job locations, directing all project activities.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, including milestones, deliverables, and dependencies, with cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings to update project progress and resolve issues with team members, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Maintain project files in SharePoint for continuity and historic documentation.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct aligned with corporate mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide supervision for Project Managers and Project Engineers in the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, industrial engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
  • Three to five years managing pharmaceutical or life science-related projects.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience managing multiple projects in a production facility or industrial environment.
  • Five or more years of proven machinery moving, construction, project management, or construction safety experience.
  • Familiarity with job site concepts, practices, procedures, bottlenecks, and risks.
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly self-directed and motivated; able to lead a team or work independently.
  • Ability to work alongside field technicians in assembly and erecting of machine tools.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Effective negotiation skills with peers around priority and design.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve conflict in preliminary stages.
  • Regular participation and contribution in department and team meetings.
  • Ability to read and interpret data, contracts, blueprints, schematics, and detailed plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to attain one quickly.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and stay on or near the site for extended durations.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Performs physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or crouching.
  • Lifts and/or moves materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent outdoor work with exposure to inclement weather, uneven or broken terrain, and heavy equipment or machinery.
  • May work in non-climate-controlled environments with exposure to high noise levels or low-lit areas.
  • Frequent travel by automobile to various project sites.
