About the role

K&A Power Group is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their team in Hartford, Connecticut. This role involves managing complex projects such as large substation construction, new transmission line projects, and transmission facility expansions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage traditional projects requiring close stakeholder interaction, such as large substation construction projects, new transmission line projects, major transmission facility expansion projects, or projects of medium/high complexity.
  • Monitor project progress closely and ensure efficient completion within budget.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive project plan, schedule, communications plan, and change control methodology.
  • Coordinate the development of detailed project budgets and cash flow management.
  • Ensure timely preparation of ISO-NE project submittals and manage the development of bid documents for various procurement activities.
  • Manage project close-out processes to support corporate business goals.
  • Provide clear and comprehensive reports for management.
  • Lead and guide less experienced project management personnel.
  • Prepare corporate testimony and expert witness testimony for regulatory proceedings.
  • Investigate and solve problems, analyze data, and write reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred), or equivalent experience in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of related experience, including at least three (3) years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience in the construction of transmission lines is highly desirable.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.
  • Available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Must be able to visit field construction sites including high voltage substations and utility rights-of-way.
  • Capable of attending to problems in off-hours and for extended periods, if necessary.
  • Assigned a storm/incident response role.

  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership, teambuilding, coaching, problem-solving, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
