About the role
K&A Power Group is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their team in Hartford, Connecticut. This role involves managing complex projects such as large substation construction, new transmission line projects, and transmission facility expansions.
Responsibilities
- Manage traditional projects requiring close stakeholder interaction, such as large substation construction projects, new transmission line projects, major transmission facility expansion projects, or projects of medium/high complexity.
- Monitor project progress closely and ensure efficient completion within budget.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project plan, schedule, communications plan, and change control methodology.
- Coordinate the development of detailed project budgets and cash flow management.
- Ensure timely preparation of ISO-NE project submittals and manage the development of bid documents for various procurement activities.
- Manage project close-out processes to support corporate business goals.
- Provide clear and comprehensive reports for management.
- Lead and guide less experienced project management personnel.
- Prepare corporate testimony and expert witness testimony for regulatory proceedings.
- Investigate and solve problems, analyze data, and write reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred), or equivalent experience in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- At least ten (10) years of related experience, including at least three (3) years of Project Management experience.
- Experience in the construction of transmission lines is highly desirable.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.
- Available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Must be able to visit field construction sites including high voltage substations and utility rights-of-way.
- Capable of attending to problems in off-hours and for extended periods, if necessary.
- Assigned a storm/incident response role.

- Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices.
- Excellent leadership, teambuilding, coaching, problem-solving, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Self-starter with strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
