About the role
Lead and manage a portfolio of engineering projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities.
Promote collaboration across engineering, project controls, accounting, and support functions.
Serve as primary client relationship manager, maintaining strong client partnerships and identifying opportunities for additional services.
Support the development and improvement of project management processes, tools, and best practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for project execution including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance.
- Oversee financial performance and profitability of assigned projects and develop recovery plans when needed to maintain project performance.
- Lead coordination between engineering leads, project teams, and functional managers to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
- Develop and review project financial reports, schedules, and resource forecasts in collaboration with Accounting and Project Controls.
- Report project performance, financial status, schedule, and risks to both clients and internal leadership.
- Mentor and guide project managers, engineers, and project staff, supporting their professional development and project management capabilities.
- Assist with and lead proposal development, including scope definition, scheduling, and cost estimates for requests for proposal (RFP) responses.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to expand existing client relationships and identify new opportunities.
- Prepare and present technical and project performance reports to clients and internal leadership.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline (preferred)
- 10+ years of experience managing engineering or infrastructure projects (required)
- Demonstrated experience managing large or complex projects for electric utilities
- PE registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required)
- Previous project management experience with a utility or engineering consulting firm strongly preferred
- Experience in transmission line design and management (preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to mentor and develop junior staff
