Position Summary
Ergon is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects in our Energy & Specialty Solutions Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capital projects from initial concept through design, procurement, construction, startup, and closeout.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Cook up multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Establish project scopes, objectives, and technical requirements while managing changes through a structured change management process.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Manage procurement activities, contractor selection, contract administration, and vendor performance.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and company standards while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Review engineering designs, construction progress, commissioning activities, and project documentation to ensure quality and operational readiness.
- Support business case development, capital authorization requests, and project financial tracking.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve project execution processes, cost effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Foster collaborative relationships across business functions while delivering exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior project managers and project team members as appropriate.
- Participate in acquisition due diligence and greenfield or expansion project evaluations.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred) or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible project management experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial, refining, chemical processing, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple capital projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, construction practices, project controls, procurement, and contractor management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to support project execution.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience within refining, specialty chemicals, asphalt, terminal operations, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams across multiple business units.
- Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM), regulatory compliance, and industrial construction practices.
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions due diligence, facility expansions, or strategic capital investment initiatives.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, solve complex problems, and successfully manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
