Hybrid (3 days/week onsite) – Springfield, MO, Monett, MO preferred; Allen, TX and Overland Park, KS

Employment Type: Contract

About Our Client

Our client is a technology company delivering solutions that digitally transform and empower community banks and credit unions, helping them provide enhanced, streamlined experiences to their customers and members. Their best-in-class products support the future of digital banking and payments, and they are currently investing in a major modernization of their core payment platforms.

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support large, cross-functional technology and business initiatives. This role will drive detailed project planning and execution for a major technology modernization effort involving the migration of critical payment platforms to modern infrastructure. The Project Manager will work closely with business leaders, technology teams, architects, and vendors to create and maintain detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), manage dependencies across teams, track risks and issues, drive action item completion, and ensure execution remains on schedule. This is a highly tactical, hands-on project management role focused on execution excellence and day-to-day delivery management rather than strategic program leadership.

This position operates on a hybrid schedule with an expectation of being in the office three days per week, with standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and work breakdown structures (WBS) for complex technology initiatives.
  • Drive day-to-day project execution to ensure milestones, deliverables, and commitments are achieved.
  • Identify, track, and manage cross-functional dependencies and critical path activities.
  • Facilitate project planning, status, and execution meetings with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Maintain project risks, issues, decisions, and action item logs while driving timely resolution.
  • Proactively escalate delivery risks, schedule concerns, and resource constraints to appropriate leadership.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery outcomes.
  • Monitor project schedules and performance metrics, identifying and addressing variances as needed.
  • Ensure project documentation, governance artifacts, and status reporting remain current and accurate.
  • Partner with technical teams to support cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and large-scale technology transformation initiatives.
  • Work on diverse and complex projects, managing usage of project management frameworks and methodologies.
  • Assist in or lead the creation and deployment of standard templates and processes for project management deliverables.
  • Proactively review and assess all areas of risk management associated with projects.
  • Provide mentoring and support to other project managers in dealing with project management issues for assigned projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six years of project management experience leading complex technology projects.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Planview, or similar solutions.
  • Experience supporting cloud migration or cloud infrastructure transformation efforts, preferably within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
  • Experience managing project risks, issues, actions, and escalations.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams operating across business and technology functions.
  • Clear communication style.
  • Demonstrated experience building detailed project schedules and work breakdown structures.
  • Strong dependency management and critical path planning experience.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of project activities simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience managing cloud migration, infrastructure, platform modernization, or technology transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Experience supporting payment processing, banking technology, fintech, or financial services environments.
  • Experience working within large enterprise organizations.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred.
