About the role

Responsible for managing one large project or multiple technology projects of varying sizes and complexities from start to finish. This includes estimating, contract negotiations, project design, technical direction, quality control, job scheduling, financial oversight, problem resolution, job completion, coordination, communication, and client satisfaction activities. The role manages a team of project management employees and has responsibility for business development, project budgets, projections and contracts, job solicitation, and project negotiations in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives, and regulations.

This position may assist with technologies construction projects including but not limited to all types of low voltage systems such as voice/data, video and security systems, audiovisual, nurse call, distributed antenna systems, and fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to provide strategic input to key objectives and decisions affecting the business unit and functional work group.
  • Conduct high-quality business development and job solicitation in the marketplace in partnership with other Company leaders.
  • Provide ongoing quality reviews and project communication with owners, contractors, designers, subcontractors, engineers, architects, field staff, and other stakeholders, addressing and resolving issues as needed.
  • Direct all phases and activities of each project to achieve high quality and productivity, including bidding, budgeting, monitoring projections, and establishing goals and standards of performance.
  • Ensure all jobs or contracts are fulfilled to the customer’s satisfaction and the Company earns a fair profit.
  • Optimize efficiency of labor, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools; ensure all plans and specifications clearly identify project scope and milestones, are shared with appropriate parties, and adhere to approved budgets.
  • Ensure all safety programs and OSHA requirements are followed.
  • Communicate directly with subcontractors and designers concerning project costs, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Prepare and manage timely and accurate project documents, estimates, projections, material release schedules, client information, project schedules, purchase orders, monthly invoices, payments, closeout documents, warranties, drawings, maintenance manuals, final billings, change orders, cost codes, and other documentation to support construction project work.
  • Procure materials proactively and coordinate with the purchasing team to reduce material price fluctuations; may negotiate with vendors and distributors on availability, pricing, and completion of quotes.
  • Ensure all plans and submittals are thoroughly and accurately reviewed for content and conformance with construction documents and maintained in appropriate systems.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to project foreman and/or superintendent to monitor productivity goals and build teamwork.
  • Partner with appropriate personnel to conduct job site inspections and ensure accurate scope, placement, and conformance with contract documents and the Company’s project quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure all field personnel have current materials, tools, plans, schedules, and directions; communicate and document all changes in budget and scope of work.
  • Provide high-quality hiring, coaching, communications, training, mentoring, and team building to staff and co-workers; provide performance feedback regularly.
  • Create and manage an annual financial budget and maintain responsibility for Company-wide financials.
  • Stay informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices; establish, train, and maintain policies and processes as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in electrical, project management, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of project management experience.
  • Extensive project management training and skills; thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Experience with computerized estimating systems and software, preferably Accubid.
  • Experience and proficiency using Accubid, Revit, CAD, SKM, AGI, Navisworks, and/or BIM systems may be required for some divisions or business groups.
  • Trained and proficient in project management tools and techniques, negotiating, budgeting, estimating, costing, contracting, scheduling, pricing, and common code requirements.
  • Strong business analysis and mathematical skills; ability to diagnose complex problems with strategic critical thinking and detail orientation.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with construction methods and materials, costing, power, lighting, systems design, and general industry safety and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Keen understanding of the National Electric Code.
  • Skills to read, interpret, and understand financial documents, electrical bids, contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and build strong working teams, cultures, and relationships at all levels.
  • Strong business development, documentation, and report preparation skills.
  • Strong hiring, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with and facilitate diverse work teams.
  • Leadership, customer focus, delegation, and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Travel to project sites is required, which may include temporary relocation for the duration of the project.

Pay

$107,000–$145,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
