Job Summary
The Sr. R&D Project Lead is responsible for overseeing and delivering project management for new product development projects. This role holds top-level accountability for delivering pipeline projects on-time, within scope, and within budget. The Sr. R&D Project Lead will serve as the voice of the project, collaborating with all key stakeholders and external customers, and will contribute to portfolio decisions with senior management. This person will manage projects to ensure resources are allocated correctly and utilized efficiently to meet company objectives.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and controls processes and budget for development projects.
- Fully manages and aligns projects with company needs, providing guidance with minimal to no direct input.
- Leads product development through planning, execution, and management of projects to achieve strategic and operational objectives.
- Drives department leads to consensus for key recommendations and decisions; escalates where appropriate.
- Provides mentorship and coaching to junior project leads.
- Partners and coordinates with other departments to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met per plan.
- Contributes to yearly goals and performance review feedback for department leads assigned to development projects.
- Identifies opportunities to enhance project development efficiency.
- Contributes to portfolio strategic decision-making.
- Effectively communicates with all levels of management, including periodic project updates.
- Makes financially responsible and pragmatic decisions.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time and project management skills with attention to detail, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and balance multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable regulations and standards, both FDA and international.
- Strong scientific/technical writing ability.
- Experience managing and implementing multiple projects in a high-growth, fast-paced organization.
- Capable of cross-collaboration with other departments and providing strategic insight with an enterprise-wide mindset.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline; MBA preferred.
- 12+ years of experience, preferably with medical devices.
- Minimum 3+ years of managerial experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of project management experience, preferably in new product development.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move about inside the office and travel to and from office buildings to access file cabinets, employee offices, office machinery, etc. This may include bending and walking.
- Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer, keyboard, and calculator.
- Ability to listen and speak with employees and vendors to exchange accurate information.
- Must be able to view and type on computer screens for long periods of time.

Pay
$132,400–$198,600 + bonus
