Senior Project Executive (Construction)

About the role

The NYC Department of Design and Construction seeks a Project Executive (Construction) for its Borough Based Jails (BBJ) Division. The Sr. Project Executive will oversee all aspects of the construction process for the design-build capital program comprising of four Borough-based facilities, valued at $16 billion.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Program Management Consultant (PMC) firm’s staff and DDC staff, for compliance with all applicable codes, rules, and regulations of NYC/NYS’s governing agencies, including Design-Build Contractors throughout the planning, design and construction phases.
• Provide oversight of the PMC and secure the cooperation of sponsor agencies throughout all phases of project development, and implementation of design-build excellence principles, as well as preparation of performance specifications, and all associated contract documents for all BBJ buildings.
• Supervise multiple BBJ project executives and project managers to ensure adherence to contract documents and collaborate to ensure that projects remain on schedule and on budget.
• Implement tiered project delivery methodology.
• Ensure thorough understanding of applicable construction best practices, including construction management principles with clear accountability for the teams and their staffs.
• Interact extensively with the Public Design Commission, Department of City Planning, Department of Buildings, and other City agencies, NY State agencies, and Community Boards, as well as multiple City Sponsor Agencies.

Requirements

All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.). In compliance with Public Law 99-603, candidates are required to present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. DDC is unable to support or sponsor any visa application or visa extension, including but not limited to OPT/STEM visas, H-1B visas, F-1 practical training, permanent residence sponsorship, or any proposed change of visa type. DDC does not offer a training program as required by U.S. immigration law and is not hiring temporary employees. Candidates must have proper work authorization when an employment offer is made. Additionally, educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity;
• A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in "1" above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity;
• Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.

Skills

• Preference will be given to candidates with at least ten years of experience in management, project management, administration, and/or supervisory work.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Knowledge of the City’s infrastructure and public buildings systems.

Pay

$62,407.00 – $164,461.00
